Nominees for the Campaign for Greener Arbitration Award for sustainable behaviour at the GAR Awards 2024

The nominations process for the 14th annual GAR Awards is underway and we’re delighted to highlight the shortlist for the Campaign for Greener Arbitration Award for sustainable behaviour:

  • Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) for launching its sustainability taskforce

  • The North America Committee of the Campaign for Greener Arbitrations for its Virtual Hearing Toolkit

  • Arbitra International for its inaugural cycle to Paris Arbitration Week

  • ICCA forms panel to develop and promote a draft annex on conciliation of disputes under the Paris Agreement and the UNFramework Convention on Climate Change

  • Annette Magnusson and Anja Ipp for their book “Investment Arbitration and Climate Change”

  • The ESG subcommittee of the IBA Arbitration Committee for its "Report on use of ESG contractual obligations and related disputes"

  • ICSID for its continued use of remote hearings post-pandemic, sustainable solutions for in-person hearings, energy electricity savings, and carbon offseting

  • The German Arbitration Institute (DIS) for implementing the Green Protocol at its Autumn conference, including preferential rates for conference participants who travelled by train

  • The United Nations finalises the text of the High Seas Treaty
