CGA mentioned in Queen Mary University of London International Arbitration Survey

The Future of International Energy Arbitration, Survey Report 2022, conducted by Queen Mary University of London and Pinsent Masons, available here, sheds light on the latest trends and priorities in the field of energy arbitration.

One noteworthy finding from the report is the growing importance of sustainable practices within the industry. The Green Pledge gained significant attention among respondents.

According to the survey, the two most popular items on the Campaign's agenda were "using videoconferencing for meetings and hearings" (81%) and "avoiding unnecessary travel, particularly flights" (69%). These practical measures align with the broader global movement towards sustainability.

Furthermore, the use of electronic bundles at hearings was highlighted as an important priority by 66% of respondents.

However, when respondents were asked about the impact of green credentials on their selection of law firms, experts, institutions, or arbitrators, the majority noted that while it may have some influence, environmental considerations were not their primary concern. But let's seize this opportunity for change!

Together, we can shift the mindset to create a greener future for international arbitration.
